Creative duo in Brooklyn

Eva Dayton has spent most of her career focusing on fashion; she spent several years at Armani before opening her own boutique, Butter, on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. She renamed the shop Eva Gentry when she began working with her husband and collaborator, Gentry Dayton; together they have also begun to work designing interiors. With Eva's predilection for well-edited black and white minimalism (the store is stocked with pieces by Helmut Lang, Rick Owens, and Martin Margiela, among others) mixed with Gentry's Harley Davidson motorcycle chic aesthetic, it adds up to what Eva calls "tough minimalism." The duo has completed several interior design jobs, including the Helmut Lang showroom in New York, as well as their own Brooklyn apartment, which was has been featured in UK Elle Decoration and RUM. To see more of their work, visit Eva Gentry.

Canvas Home

The New York based interior store Canvas Home has a beautiful collecion of ceramics, wooden objects, textiles, furniture and accessories. The items ar created by craftsmen and artisans for the US and abroad. I particularly like the lights reminding me of raindrops and the soft colourpalette.

Hot pink

There are days when some hot pink just makes my day. It´s not my favorite colour but it still gets me, especially after a grey day like yesterday. Layers of pink; in wood, flowers or just a post-it... Sheer happiness!

Dutch beauty

These lovely lights made by dutch duo Daphna Laurens. They are called "Tafelstukken" and this is a special serie made for Mint Gallery. I love the well designed little details and inovative style. The designduo transforms everyday objects into characteristic products.

Knits & light

I love when two unexpected elements meet, like these; knits and light. Especially, I like how they have worked with the knit around the cord and exaggerated the lenght, making this part more visible and interesting. The lights come from a very innovative german designgroup called llot llov.

Jieldé - perfection

This is a lamp I have been obsessing about for quite some time now. I have very specific demands on which one I want, a vintage version in steel grey. They come fresh from the factory as we speak, but what´s the fun in that (however they make them in a lot of pretty colours...). The lighting I´m talking about is of course the classic Jieldé (Loft or Signal), designed by Jean-Lous Domecq in France in the early 50´s. A true classic that have made a comeback with the ongoing industrial trend.

Light bulb xxl

As I have written before, I love lights! So you can emagine my happyness when I saw these on Designtraveller. I really like the smoke- and amber-coloured glas. A simple and modern shape mixed with a little bit of humour. The lights are called Muffins and are designed by Lucie Koldova and Dan Yeffet, manufatured by Brokis.

A bouquet of lights

I must say that it feels like a trend with all these multiple lights. A while ago I wrote about lights in this genre, see herehere and here. We have something similar at home and it looks great but at the same time my conscience say no to such an energy-waste. We have tried with lowenergy lightbulbs, but honestly, it doesn´t look the same....

The love of concrete

I dont know what it is but I have a fascination for raw, worn-out concrete walls. I love the patina from layers of old paint and the grey concrete. It is like the wall is telling us a story from the past. When I was in New York many years ago to get inspiration for a collection, all I photographed were cracks in the street and old walls.
