Orla Kiely

I´m a big admire of Orla Kiely. She is a fantastic graphic designer with amazing prints, but personaly I think she is showing her strength when it comes to colours. Entering her store in London aways brings a smile to my face. So, when I found these great shots of her home, threw the lovely blog French by design, my heart started to beat a little faster. I love the bold accents in glasobjects and furntures mixed with the calm neutrals on the walls. Photos by Chris Tubbs.

New York townhouse

Templer Townhouse is a renovation made by Workshop For Architecture.  The company was established in 2003 as a collaborative design and research studio. This project included the garden, parlor and basement levels of a brick townhouse in the west Chelsea neighborhood of New York. The primary intention of the design was reconnect the garden level spaces with the exterior while creating more open living spaces throughout incorporating minimalist details. I can move in any day...

Roman & Williams...again

I have written about this dynamic design duo before. Twice acctually... and I was delighted to see some new shots of their work made by talented photographer Ditte Isager. Roman and Williams are based in New York and have for example done some amazing work with The Ace Hotel and The Standard in NY. They have a very specific and personal style that makes my heart tick just a little bit faster.

Items of desire

I´ve been a fan of Charles & Ray Eames for many years now. Even if I see their work in almost any interior magazine or stylish home, I don´t get tired. Some of the products are constantly on my wish list, such as the Eames House bird and the RAR chair.

Charles and Ray Eames enhanced the collage in Eames House to include countless objects they brought back with them from their travels. For over 50 years the figure of a black wooden bird stood on the floor at the heart of their living room - evidently a piece of American folk art they especially appreciated and which they frequently used as an accessory in their photos.

The iconic Plastic Armchair Rocker (RAR) was presented in 1948 as part of the famed New York Museum of Modern Art competition "Low Cost Furniture Design". The chair was first produced in glass fiber but is now made by polypropylene.

Great danish design

Tine K Home is showing their new collection of beautiful items. I love how they have used the grey concrete and the weather-beaten wood to set the background. And I want one or two of the baskets, now...

Yes, please

[atelierprouve5.jpg]
Yes, I would like a bookshelf by Charlotte Perriand at Atelier Jean Prouvé, made in 1953. I have written before about my favorite chairs, also made by Perriand. She was a brilliant French architect and designer, who worked, among others, at Le Corbusier’s studio.

Roman and Williams part 2

I have had pictures from the New York based architectduo Roman and Williams before, but I just can´t get enough of their eclectic and personal style. They have had a great success with their work for The Standard and The Ace Hotel, it has made them wellknown in a larger scale. The company was founded in 2002 by Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch. Apart from the architect aspect they also do great furniture and lighting. We will surely see more of them in the future.

Geometric shapes

The similarity is striking. The top picture is a Pile-On Game, handmade in Indonesia, asymmetrical cherry-finished wooden pieces. The two bottom pictures are items made by the talented artist Arik Levy. I love the geometric shapes that almost looks like raw diamonds.

I love these ceramic objects. They have a corrugated paper-like surface, made by Paola Paronetto.
