I´ve just packed my bag for an exciting trip to Shanghai! It will be my first trip there so I really look forward to it. Sorry for the rare posts lately but a terrible internet at home and too much at work have made me invisible here, but things will change when I get back. Pastel time

If you have for some reason missed it...let me tell you that pastels are one of the key trends this year in fashion. It started out with Philip Lim, Prada, J Crew, Acne (and a lot of others) letting models down the runway in both pale and bold pastels. The fashionworld went crazy and soon everyone else followed. You will see a lot of it in the stores this summer, all the chainstores and smaller brands were quick to pick this up. Of course the interiorworld is doing their way of pastels. I really like the mint mixed with the nude wood...

Spring feelings

Oh, how I love these first days of spring! The sun has been shining the entire weekend and we have been outdoors from morning to evening. It the best feeling in the world to have the first cup of coffee on the terrace and then walk around in the garden to see green sprouts making their way to the surface.

Great week

I´ve had some fantastic days in Paris. First of all, we were there to visit the large fabric fair, Premiére Vision but I also spent some times walking around the shops to see what french fashion presents this spring. Of course a visit to the design concept store Merci is compulsory. This time they had filled the store with stylish bikes and everything to do with biking. Bikes is actually a common denominator for all of the trend forcast lectures I´ve listened to this year...

I also had the great honour to listen to my favorite trend guru Li Edelkoort talk about Autumn Winter 13-14. It´s always a pleasure to hear her speak and I´m amazed of her accurate predictions.

After a busy week in Paris I went home to change suitcase and head down to Tylösand Spa & Hotel for a relaxing weekend with my family. Very nice, especially the great view of the sea right outside the window. The hotel is also well known for it´s large art gallery. For me, that was the best part of the entire weekend. My favorite artist was Jesper Petersson, a fashion and art photographer from Halmstad. I now have one of his pieces on my "wish list".

I´ve spent all day today out on the frozen sea, walking around on the ice with nothing else but white snow as far as I could see. Beautiful, especially since the sun greated us with it´s presents. So today I go all white even in this post.

I´m sure no one have missed the hype for pastells this spring. In fashion it´s one of the key palette for the season and we sure see the 80´s influence in interior as well. I quite like a pale blush tone mixed with grey or a dusty teal, so it feels new and not too retro.

Dries Van Noten Spring 2012

My absoulte favorite on the runway this spring have to be Dries Van Noten. He is a genius when it comes to colours and prints and this year he didn´t disappoint me. Clean, fresh, contemporary and wearable...just the way I like it. Of course, I had to mix in some photos of interior to make a point; design is universal.

Est Magazine nr 4

Est Magazine (from Austalia) just released their 4th issue on the web. I like their mix and of course their liking of scandinavian design. Especially I liked the article about the clever design duo Piet and Karin Boon. Est showed three of 'the Boon' creations; an apartment and a houseboat in Amsterdam, and a villa in Portugal. Here are some snaps from these pictures. I hope you can see "what goes where"... I can move in to the houseboat any day.

Going crazy

I´ve come to a point in my life when I need to do drastic changes in my behaviors so this week I´ve made some adjustments to my everyday living. For the first time in seven years I´ve joined a gym and lets just say I will regret that tomorrow. To get some results I´ve also joined the WeightWatchers... and now I´m going crazy. All I can hink of some chocolate with sea salt or a nice glas of wine! So to I keep myself busy I´m painting. Anything to not think about food. It´s not really working.

It seams to be some kind of award season right now. For a little while ago I was honored with two lovely awards. A "Libsten award" from Victoria at A faded palette and then another one from sweet Elina. Thank you two!! The one from Elina included some questions to be answered and I´m not the one who say no to that... So here we go;

1. Favourite song?

2. Favourite dish?

A good quality buffalo mozarella with some olive oil and a basil leaf beats amost anything.

3. What makes you irritated?

I´m a she-devil when I get behind the weel. When someone is cutting in front of me or drive badly in general, I go nuts. Just to let you know, this is not something I´m proud of.

4. When I'm upset.

I cry.

5. Favourite pet?

I´m not really a pet person (to my husbands sorrow. He´s a dog person).

6. Black or white?

Black. I´m a fashion designer, what else do I need to say... I´m born loving black.

7. My biggest fear?

That something would happen to my family. If I read something bad about a child in the newspaper on my way to work I have to stop myself from not going back home just to hug my son.

8. My everyday attitude.

Work hard. Have fun. Trying to get everyone around me to smile.

9. What is perfection for me?

Time with my family, in the sun.

10. My bad habits?

How many should I tell you? I really hate opening the mail, especially bills. My motto is "if I haven´t read the letter, it doesn´t excist".

11. Seven things about me.

1.I´m married with Gustaf since 2010 and have a 3 year old son.

2. We live in a house with desperate renovation needs.

3. I´m painting pictures, hoping to have an exibition soon.

4. I´ve been working as a fashion designer for the last 13 years. Love my job.

We were just off to a dinner party last night when I just realized I had nothing to wrap the gifts in. After a quick search I found some old wallpaper and Washi tape. I also used some old felt balls that I´ve used to make toys. A quick fix that turned out quite all right if you ask me...

Metallic meets nudes

I´m sorry for being so absent with posts this week but my work is keeping me busy at the moment. As you might know I´m working as a fashiondesigher so right now lots of nice garments are being created for you to wear soon...
This winter and Christmas was all about metallics in the fashion world. One would guess that I´m tired of them right now, but that is not the case. I see new metallic shades with less shine mixed with nude tones as a fresh start for this year. It´s also a nice contrast to the colour explosion that will hit us as soon as spring is here to stay.

Before we got our son, I thought that I would be the DIY mom. Making my own textile toys with lot of personality and joy... Yeah right, like that even happened! I really tried the first year or two but then I sort of gave up. Now he´s three and to my "disappointment" and all he ever talks about is Star Wars Lego, ghosts and dragons. So, this post is more for me then it would be for him. I still love all these handmade soft toys. Maybe I should make one for myself...

This week I´ve been honored with not one but two lovely awards. A white room

This post I found at Today you inspired me and lets just say it made me smile! This December, in a surprisingly simple yet ridiculously amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Ar, artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color. How great is this? Given the opportunity my son could probably cover the entire piano alone in about fifteen minutes. The installation, entitled The Obliteration Room, is part of Kusama’s Look Now, See Forever exhibition that runs through March 12.

A fireplace please

The nights are getting colder and yesterday we even had a little bit of snow on the ground for about five minutes. It´s times like these, when an open fireplace is the perfect item in a home. We just tore ours down and it will be at least six months before we can even start think about a new one. Perfect timing right...? But next time it will look something like the photos above and then I will still in my pyjamas with a knitted cardigan and just enjoy life.

I´m not forcasting trends in interior but I would say that this years most common trend is DIY projects. Acctually it´s been a DIY year... We see a large changement in peoples shopping behaviors and I guess we all like to get back to a simple and more minimal approach towards our homes and decoration. I just got back from Berlin where the whole city was dressed in classic christmas colours such as red, green and gold. This year I feel for a more natural Christmas with pale colours and a home made feeling. Using white and unbleached paper, acorns and branches from a tree. Inspiring workspace

I just read an article about inspiring offices the other day. They were showing pictures of futuristic and fantastic workspaces around Gothenburg. That made me think about my own workspace. Sorry, "X" (the company I work for, that I don´t want to name), but I have to say that the area where we work (and I´m working with design!) is anything but inspiring... What would we create if our daily surrounings looked anything like this? Something great I´m sure. What´s like were you work? Does the area make you feel creative?

Little Studio.

Yesterday I got a mail from Little Studio, run by Marit Lissdaniels and Angelica Utterberg. They started their company in 2010 with mainly posters but have now also designed cusions, cutting boards, trays and other lovley items for the design consious home. Everything is produced in Sweden, which I think is great. I really like their mix of patterns and colours, it feels fresh! Check out the website.

As a fasion designer it´s almost expected to always wear black. At the last seminar with Li Edelkoort, she was talking about wearing black as a kind of sheld. Something one wear to become invisble and protected. When it comes to interior it´s the other way around, going "all black" becomes a statement of boldness.

Grey dreams

It´s time to realize that the days are getting shorter and grey will be the general colour on our sky for the next coming months. However, I find this colour beautiful and peaceful. Layers of knits, natural linnen sheets, distressed concrete walls and weather bleached wood, they all look so nice in cool shades of grey.

Gender bender

I´ve been thinking a lot about femine versus masculine the last couple of days. Can you tell if a woman or a man have designed an item? Is there a different kind of mindset when it comes to design? Is there a difference between male and female bloggers? If there is a difference, are we slowly changing our minds and will "meet in the middle"? In fashion, dressing with a "Gender bender" twist is THE thing right now. We borrow from the male wardrobe and use masculine attributes like they are our own. And according to the magazines, "metrosexual" men is no longer a trend it´s a natural way of living. What do you think? Are men and women different when designing?

A colourful fall

I read a variety of interior blogs every day. Some I visit once in a while and some I just have to read every singel day because they always keep me inspired. Swedish 'STIL inspiration', run by Pella, is one of my favorites, especially when she is showing some of her own work. For some time now she has been taking an course in interior styling at Beckmans by the Swedish stylist queen Lotta Agaton and I think Pella has a real talent for the job. I hope to see more of her styling in the future and really recommend a visit to her blog.

Art to desire

If I hadn´t spent all my money in New York I would have been a strong candidate to buy this piece of art that I just found on 'Stadsauktion'. They have an auction for charity (Barndiabetesfonden) and this is one of the items that I would like to place a strong bid on. The photo is untitled and signed by the artist, Camilla Åkrans 2010. I love photoart, I´m in the fashion buisness and green is my favorite colour, so it´s perfect...I just lack a bit of cash.

H&M Home 2012

I just found some photos from H&H Home´s press preview threw April and May. I think some of their things look quite nice but I always expect stronger and bolder expressions since H&M fashion always go "all the way". They have chosen a safe way and I think they would gain more in experimenting a bit and try to sand out instead of blending in. What do you think? Is this something that will be interesting for next year?

Varpunen sacks

"Tetris" and "Shapes" are two items in Varpunen´s new collecions of sacks. They are made of printed PVC-laminated polyester with some very strong prints. These two are my favorites but they all look great.

Sunday kitchen

I hope you´ve all had a great weekend. Mine have been fantastic, I´ve spent most of the time in the garden making things ready for winter and on saturday night we had friends over for dinner. We spent all evening in the kitchen and sitting there I just realized how much I want to renovate the place. The problem is just that when we moved in, the kitchen was the only room that was fixed up, just not in a way that we like. So, when the rest of the house is in desperat need of some TLC, the kitchen just have to wait. But some day...

Dirt Poster

Posters with funny or well thought of quotes is nothing new. In fact it´s not really my cup of tea. But yesterday I came across Dirt Poster by Roland Reiner Tiangco and totally fell in love with the design and sentiment. The back of the poster is covered in black dust that makes your hands extremely dirty for a reason. Rubbed across the white poster front, your hands reveal the poster’s message. I love the statement because it is true on so many levels. Anyone precious about making mess is probably not going to change the world.

It´s still a few more week before I will even start to think about Christmas, but today I was visiting the webshop of Artilleriet and just realized that everything I wish for is in their store. Honey, here is my wishlist for Christmas...you just have to make one stop, easy right?

A neon string

Why does a little neon string make me smile? Ever since the begining of this summer I´ve been obsessing over neon colours in interior and it doesn´t leave my mind. Today I found that Hviit is selling pink neon string per meter, so I´m just going to order me a couple of meters to feed this desire of mine.

Reality check

It´s a bit relieving to see photos like these. Weekday Carnival is usually famous for showing well orgainized and very stylish photos of her home, but I have to say that I love this post showing quite the opposite. We´re living in an era of showing off our perfect homes in our perfect lifes. Looking at peoples Facebook status makes, at least me, feel like a lazy bum. Everyone is running before breakfast, eating fantastic dinners, going to exotic places and loving their jobs...every day. Floor love

This appartment owned by Wolfgang Benkhen in Hamburg is really nice but at first glance I thought it was a bit too clean for my taste. But then I had another look and saw the floors! They are just wonderful. Why put something on your walls when the floor is the key element of the home...? I also like the contrast in the minimal styling together with all the books and paintings on the...floor. I´ve wondered about what material we should use for the kitchen floor but after seeing his kitchen, the problem is solved.

Alex & Fred is a new Swedish concept, specialised on bedding for children, made from shirt fabrics. They are designed by Bobo Andersson, a former fashion designer and will be sold on their website Alex & Fred, opening just now. I love the sharp gingham checks and stripes, reminding me of my husbands favorite shirts and I like the fact that this Swedish company is focusing on the children without making it look too childish.

Back in town

So, I´m back after yet another fantastic trip, New York was as lovely as always. Very good work wise, I got a lot of inspiration for next years fall collections. We also managed to find some great restaurants.

One place I can recommened for coffee is Ground Support on West Broadway. They have the best coffee I´ve ever tasted, anywere!

The first night we had dinner at La Esquina, just around the corner from our hotel. Mexican food, the way it should taste...so nice. It was acctually so good that we had to come back once more. Try the fish tacos, fantastic!!

One night we went to Freemans, at the end of Freeman Alley. We were there in April this year and just had to return. It´s a restuarant with great food, but the crowd and ambiance is worth a visit.

The last day we went to Barneys for a visit to their exclusive designer department. Their we ran in to the Olsen sisters, looking exactly as one would have thought. Super cute, super smal, in black with sunglasses on and a large Starbucks coffee in their hand. We followed them around for a bit just to see what they were looking at, and let me just say that I´m sure knitted headbands will be seen soon on one of them...

New York, here I come.

New Delhi

It´s not even a week since I got home from India and already it feels like forever. Especially when I look at the photos I took. It was one of the most interesting journeys I´ve made in a very long time. The friendly and lovely people, the city and the colours are so different from anything at home. Here are some photos taken from the car. Unfortunally we weren´t able to walk around a lot, we were busy going to different meeting all day long so most of the city we saw from the backseat.

As a huge contrast to what we saw on the streets, we´re invited to a wedding. A very fancy and large one! Dressed in saris we arrived to a place built up just for the occation. The whole place was designed in the "Avatar" theme. Let´s just say, it was surreal... A party of 1500 people, everyone dressed up to their teeth with dimonds larger than anything I have ever seen. It was a fantastic experience and we danced all night long.

Ah, finally feeling good again! My body and the Indian food didn´t like eachother at the end so I´ve been feeling terrible the last couple of days but now I´m back to normal. Don´t misunderstand me; the Indian food is absolutly FANTASTIC, we just pick the wrong place the last night...

Today I´m all about the greys mixed with strong electric blue, bold yellow or hot pink. I think using colourful tape is a good way to accentuate the mood of the moment.

I just got back from the most fantastic trip to New Delhi, India. I´m in love with the place, the food, the generous people and the colours. But as I got home yesterday, all I could think of was the calm neutrals. I think I just need a pause from the colorexplosion I just experiensed. Black beauty

I just paid a visit to Stylist Bagge and found this little beauty that I just have to share. The Swedish architects at In praise of shadows have designed this black house. A mix between home and studio. I get the feeling it´s a hybrid between a barn and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, a home with perfect walls and light for exposing art.

TOAST is not giving us many surprises this fall but I still found some items that made me smile. I think the apron is really nice with the black details and I wouldn´t mind eathing breakfast on their plates and bowls. In a few days time, I will be going to India. It will be my first visit and I´m super excited. We´ll be working so I don´t know how much I acctually will see of New Delhi, but one of the days we´ll attend a big wedding so I´ll at least experiense a little of their culture. Have you been their? Autumn garden

I´ve spent all day in the garden planting all sorts of Japanese grass, cedar bushes and lots of succulents. It´s great to put our own taste and style into the garden, instead of the old plants that have been here since the 70´s. Next year we will make a small pond to add some water in the garden. I think it will be great.

Origami trend?

For some time now, origami have poped up in different shapes and different places. For a couple of days Frida Ramstedt at Trendenser was showing us her work and she is some what of a trendsetter in the Swedish interior world, so I predict we will see a lot of it in the future. I find it a beautiful way of recycle the newspaper or why not use an old book to make something unique.

Today I´m all about the rich, warm browns mixed with gold and honey. It´s been a lot of talk in different blogs about the rustic feel in advertising lately. Many interior companys show their products in an old stabel with horses or in vintage wooden houses, to get that authentic and genuine look with a lot of warmth in the pictures. I quite like it, a lot.

A Sweet Paul sunday

One of the best things about autumn is all the great mushrooms one can pick. I´m brought up with parents how know a lot about mushrooms so we were out a lot when I was younger. Now I´m trying to give the same experience to my son. He is only three years old, but as a proud mom I have to say he´s pretty good at finding his way around the forest already.

Sweet Paul is a food and Prop stylist and crafter who packed his Louis and moved from Oslo to New York to live and love. He has been working with some amazing photographers, great clients and fab magazines. Not only does he have an amazing blog but also his own magazine filled with inspiering photos of food and interior. I get hungry just looking through the images...

A Wingårdh house

Gert Wingårdh is a well known Swedish architect and this is one of his projects, based near Göteborg on the Swedish west coast. I love how he is playing with the seamless feeling between outdoor - indoor. It has also an interersting mix between a classic red cottage and contemporary minimalism.

It was Tant Johanna, Henrick´s tankegångar, Leva livet leende och StylistBagge that met and it was very nice to just talk about everything about interior and blogging in general. After the breakfast we went to Elisabeths store, Anyhow and just entering the place makes me smile. Wherever you look there are sweet little messages and gorgeous items to desire. I just bought the magasine a few days ago but were thrilled to see the photos again at La maison d´Anna G. Wow, thank you all for your answers. I felt like a child on Christmas Eve going threw the comments and it´s like my circle of friends have expanded a bit. Just by going threw your answers it feels like we have a lot in common. Elina also returned the anwer with a question; who am I. So, here we go:

I live in Onsala, a little south of Göteborg in Sweden. My family, Gustaf, our 3 year old son Axel and I moved in to a house with huge renovation needs for about two years ago. My husband and I are both really interested in building and renovation but I have to admit that my interest in interior is even bigger. It´s an adicion!

I have been working as a fashion designer for the last twelve years, enjoying every second of it. I was seven years old when I decided what to do with my life and I don´t think I could have picked a better profession. I also have a passion for travelling (which comes in handy with my line of work). I´ve lived a year in Canada, a year in France and another year in Germany. Three years that have made me into who I am today. Meeting people from other countries and cultures is fantastic.

In my spare time, I like to be with my family as much as possible. Although bloging has become a big part of my life as well. It´s just so much fun and I feel it gives me energy more than it takes. Both Gustaf and I also like to paint and hopefully we will have an excibition soon. I´ll keep you posted...

Energy boost

I´ve had one of those days when everything is suppose to be done at the same time and all the energy is gone by the end of the day. When that happens I´ve come to the conclusion that I try to gain the strenght back by using colours. I either paint or just work with graphic shapes in Photoshop, to find the perfect colour combinations.

Macrame revival

For quite some time now, knits have been a trend in interior. Because of my background in fashion I tend to look for common trends between these two worlds. Croché and macrame details on garments are popular and I start to see these elements in interior as well. In a new and modern way thank God... no more 70´s macrame own on the wall. I love the pouf and the bold lampshade. Maybe I have to ask mom how it´s done...
